This is skirting around the main issue: football money and competitiveness
And when we talk about football money, we need to be talking about how to make football more attractive to viewers in the long run.
When I read this about offering many sports and caring about graduation rates, it seems like the Ivy League to me. And it seems like the ACC is doubling down on what got them here. And this alliance is going to have both Louisville and Stanford in it?
Unless the Alliance is going to do something big (that excludes the SEC on the field--a Rose Bowl alliance or a complete break away), I see this as just a coalition of losing parties. Also, what is to say that SEC schools don't care about these things.
And BTW, the best way to preserve non revs is to have a football program raking in the bucks.
I might be all wrong on this since the rest of the article is behind a paywall, but where am I going wrong with this?
